For more than ten years, the Peace Corps has joined forces with colleges and universities across the United States to provide a unique academic experience through the Master's International Program (MI Program). The MI Program has provided hundreds of students the opportunity to incorporate Peace Corps Volunteer service into a Master's degree program. These "Student-Volunteers" forward their own professional and personal goals, and develop technical expertise that is valued by people in developing nations throughout the world. The MI Program is offered in disciplines where the Peace Corps can provide relevant field assignments.

The Peace Corps collaborates with colleges and universities to offer the MI Program in numerous different degree programs. Students may pursue studies in public health, forestry, agriculture, English teaching, business, non-profit management, or urban planning. They are placed in Peace Corps assignments overseas where they are able to apply theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom to practical, real-life settings. Participating in the MI Program is demanding, but the rewards -- both to you and to the people you serve -- are great.

Deciding between Peace Corps and Graduate School?
Since 1987, the Master's International Program has made this decision easier for hundreds of prospective students and Peace Corps Volunteers. A cooperative partnership between the Peace Corps and colleges and universities, the Master's International Program, provides a unique opportunity to incorporate Peace Corps service into a graduate degree program. The program combines a minimum of one year on-campus study with the training and field experience for which the Peace Corps is renowned. Upon completion of the program, Master's International (MI) graduates possess both an excellent academic credential and international field experience -- an attractive combination for prospective employers.
